The image of Barenga village in Keshabpur upazila of Jessore has changed a lot with the initiative of college and university students. Three years ago, a group of young people formed an organization called Student Welfare Association to build an ideal village.
Visiting the village recently, it was seen that some young people were busy repairing the paved roads. Talking to Nur Alam Khan, Rakib Hossain, Raj Kumar, Arup Biswas, Shoaib Khan, Murad Khan, Rezwan Sheikh and Babul Akter. They are all college-university students. The president of the organization Babul Akter is from Barenga village. He taught at the government primary school in the neighboring village of Hijaldanga. He studied applied mathematics from Rajshahi University.

They again admitted him in the seventh class of Barenga NSH Dakhil Madrasa. Similarly, Farzana Yasmin and Sharmin Sultana, two students who have dropped out of school, are being taught in Pancharai Secondary School with financial assistance.

Last year, a bamboo bridge was built over the Harihar River to connect Barenga village with Altapol village. The members of the Student Welfare Association sat down with the elders of the village and decided that the bridge would be built with the help of all. The bridge is made of bamboo from the villagers. It is nine kilometers from Barenga to Keshabpur. Due to the bridge, the distance was reduced to six kilometers.
