The former president of the Republic and businessman Horacio Cartes is participating in the third Criollo Contest of the Sofía and Chajha cattle breeders with the dressage and lasso competitions, which will run until tomorrow at the Expo Rodeo Trébol site, in the heart of the Paraguayan Chaco .
Regarding the activity, the advisor of the breeders Sofía and Chajha, Mauro Villamor, indicated that “this is the first test of our auction and competition cycle, the dressage and lasso test basically consists of showing the good dressage that is needed to the horse in field work. The main thing is that the horse knows how to perform the steps, trots and gallops, that it is submissive in the middle of the rein and that it is waiting for the commands ”, he indicated.
Villamor also detailed other aspects that must be taken into account for the horse taming process, which lasts approximately 3 months.
“Now we have twenty-two animals. This is very good because what is needed afterwards for a workhorse is disseminated. Tomorrow the second stage will be held, which would be ties. We believe that competition leads you to improve quality, it is good to be able to measure yourself with other participants to see how they are doing their work and it helps us to evaluate genetics “, he said.
From the ranchers they argued that the competing horses are solely and exclusively acquired in the previous auction held in August this year, after the endurance competition of the Great Creole March.
During the day the aptitudes of the horses will be measured, they had 90 days to adapt and with the dressage competition they will have to demonstrate it. The top four will be awarded cash bonuses ranging from $ 500 to $ 3,000.
“The Creole breed in the Chaco is entering through the big door because it is very resistant, rustic, the helmets are super thick, they have many qualities, they like to work with cattle, they have a size that allows them to work well and they are very economical”, he claimed.
