Talon Roseland Advances to Rodeo Austin Finals with Highest Run

Talon Roseland advances to the Rodeo Austin finals with a top run

Talon Roseland is no stranger to the ProRodeo ranks. He has been competing in the PRCA seven times. Throughout those seven seasons, Marshalltown, Iowa, Buckaroo has endured its share of ups and downs.

It may have had its biggest and brightest moment on Friday night at Rodeo Austin. Roseland had a blistering 3.4 alternate run to win her semifinal pool. In the process, he also posted the fastest wrestling time of the 2022 PRCA season.

“I have a very good horse under me right now,” the 26-year-old Roseland said. “I bought him last fall in October, and he has always been good to me.

“It’s also a big plus that Marc Joiner hazing me. I travel with him and I live with him. So we spend a lot of time rehearsing together. It’s all working out to the point where I’m really comfortable with him on that.” side, and he’s been really good recently.”

The playoff-round $5,640 payday for Roseland bumped his total up to $8,777 for the week. He’ll get a chance to add to that and some Saturday night tryouts at the NFR Playoff Series rodeo presented by Pendleton Whisky.

He said that in a format where a race decides the winner, he leaves nothing on the table. It will be all for nothing for the 26-year-old when he steps back into the box.

“I’m just going to do it the same way, I’m not going to hold back one bit,” he said. “It’s not an average, whoever is the fastest from now on wins Austin and a big check.”

“I’m not going back in the box from here on out for my health, I’m doing it to pay my bills. It’s not worth getting a fifth place. It’s worth getting first and I have my sights set on that.”

He can follow the action live on The Cowboy Channel broadcast or watch it online at the PRCA on The Cowboy Channel Plus app at 8 p.m. (ET).
