Barrelman Robbie Hodges puts out music single
Robbie Hodges, a cooper at the 2010 National Tests Rodeo, has extended his gift outside the rodeo arena into musical assiduity.
Hodges’ latest offering has him singing the lyrics to the song “Rodeo in the Rain” with the band The Durangos.
Hodges, who has been a cooper in the PRCA since 2005, teamed up with guitarist Bruce Smith of The Georgia Satellites and Jimmy Ginn of Ginn Music Group to release his first single.
The single is available now on Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, and others.
“This is my alternate single, and I’ve played guitar 10 to 15 times,” Hodges said. Bruce does every part of this (new song) except the cans and the lyrics. I enjoy doing this a lot. I am 54 years old and have been working on the barrel almost every day. I don’t want to retire. I just wanted a staple treat to make.
“I’m so proud of this (song, Rodeo in the Rain). It’s a stopcock.”
